and then, in the heart of the Grand Canal, you will be stunned in front of the beauty of St. Mark’s basin with the Salute Church, Punta della Dogana, St. Giorgio Island and the incredible overview of the Doge Palace and the Bell tower!

At the end of the gondola ride you will start the guided tour of St. Mark’s Cathedral known as the Golden Basilica, thanks to the mosaics made of pure gold that decora all the church and its five-domes. The guide will escort you in the heart of this byzantine masterpiece explaining its history and the meaning of the artistic artworks in the Cathedral.

This special tour will make you skip all the lines and giving you priority access to the Pala D’oro (golden altarpiece composed by gems, gold and diamonds) and to the Saint Mark’s Treasury: an exclusive collection of relics and precious items collected along the centuries.

Each gondola can guest maximum 6 people; the seat aboard cannot be chosen but will be assigned by the gondolier depending of guests weight
For the visit of the Basilica suitable clothing is required (no shorts)
For security reasons suitcases, backpacks or large bags are not allowed inside the Basilica, prior to your visit you must deposit them at the Ateneo San Basso (St. Mark’s Square- Calle san Basso). The storage service is free of charge, but please allow sufficient time!
The guided tour of the Golden Basilica is monolingual from April to October, from November to March could be bilingual.
Comfortable shoes suggested.

The booking process was super easy and the tour directions were simple to follow. Unfortunately, the gondola ride was underwhelming. It was brief and commercialized. Our gondolier was on his cell phone the entire time and did not interact with our group or the other passengers. It would also be nice to have the gondolier for only our group (and not having to share with other groups). Without the gondola ride, I would have given this tour at least 4 stars! Our tour guide for the Basilica, on the other hand, was excellent. He was knowledgeable and kept the group entertained with his humor. It was also nice that each guide only had to give the tour in one language. If this organization has the option for just the Basilica tour, I would highly recommend taking it!!!
