About this activity
Meet your private local guide at your hotel reception desk. Board the private water taxi and travel along the Grand Canal through Venice and the lagoon to reach the island of Murano.

Once we arrive at Murano Island, you will walk through the historical center and visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria e Donato, a 7th-century church of rare Romanesque style with original mosaics. After a 15-minute walk through Murano's quiet streets, you will reach the glass factory.

Here, you will spend about 20 minutes observing the glass masters at work. Watch them make two different objects with their famous technique for glass-blowing and sculpture.

Would you like to try on the glass slipper? If your foot fits, you will become the Cinderella of the day and will receive a special present. You can choose from a multi-colored flower vase, a dish with 'millefiori' decoration, or a Venetian wine glass (called 'goto'). You will also receive free time in the showrooms and a special 20% discount on purchases.

The tour ends in the glass factory. You can return to the center of Venice or continue easily to Burano and Torcello at any time with public transportation (on your own). The boat station is approximately 300 meters from the glass factory (ticket not included).

Was well worth it! Antonella Zanoni was fantastic. She called us the morning of to let us know they were running late but not to worry they would be picking us up soon. She explained a lot about the history while the boat took us to Murano Island...Once there we had a great demonstration and explanation. My only criticism is that the owners voice was not load enough so it was difficult to hear him over the furnaces. Not having an idea how to get back to hotel Antonella looked after everything - getting us onto the proper direct boat taxi and even walked us back to our hotel so we wouldn't get lost. D. Hale

This was an excellent tour. Our tour guide, Martina, was personable and professional. She was very knowledgeable about Venice and it's history, and very willing to answer questions.

Great experience. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I thought the glass blowing was decent but not incredible. I really enjoyed the guide's perspective on life in Venice and Murano. She was great. I thought the trip should have advertised that we had to pay for our own way back to Venice.

We were very surprised to have a private guide to take us to Murano, and even gave us a tour of Murano island before dropping us off at the glass factory! We thought we would just be transported to the island. After the glass factory visit, he met us again to take us to the vaporetto station for our transportation back to San Marco. Since we took the earliest Murano watertaxi, there wasn't a crowd on the island and the factory. We really enjoyed our tour and ride back.
