THE MERCHANT OF VENICE

Pick up from Rialto San Giacometto Church. Here you will meet our local city guide and commence an exclusive walking tour, in the footsteps of the ‘Merchant of Venice – Marco Polo’. The guide will introduce you to the story of Marco Polo and his importance in bringing goods from the Orient such as herbs and spices, which are still found today in the bustling Rialto Market which you will pass through. During the tour you will see the home of Marco Polo (outside) and as well the Atelier Bevilacqua, the famous weaver for: velvets, soprarizzi velvets, damasks, brocades, cushions, table runners and wall hangings, illustrating eight centuries of Venetian textile tradition. A stop for a tea tasting olfactory experience finishing the tour at an ancient chemist shop which now houses ‘The Merchant of Venice’ brand, the art of perfumery in Venice created by the Vidal Family. Here you will discover the bouquet of aromas they have created. At the end of the layering you will receive a small gift from the Perfume Brand.
