Isola della Scala is a full-of-nature little city, art and tastes in the landscape of Verona. With roman origins, it lies on the Claudia Augusta and it was an important centre in roman times. 
Meet your professional guide and begin your journey through rice world. Pure spring water is fundamental for the ground, where Riso Vialone Nano IGP is cultivated. Walk in Verona country and discover the wonderful rice field scenery. Then, visit a rural Villa 1742 and the Pila Vecia (‘old mill’ in the Veronese dialect) has been in operation since 1656. A canal called the Fossa Zenobiaruns under the Pila Vecia. The water turns the original seven-metre paddle wheel, which provides the energy for a series of centuries-old pestelli (wooden poles with marble tips) which gently work up and down to crush whole grains of rice and remove the outer husks.
