About this activity
Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the architecture while your private guide tells you the history of the passing buildings and squares, facts and fun anecdotes.
Your tour begins from the Arena in the Bra Square, one of Verona’s landmarks. This ancient Roman amphitheater dates back to 30 AD and is one of best preserved in the world.
The tour continues through narrow streets, as you pass colorful buildings and arrive at Pizza delle Erbe, the former heart of the ancient Roman city and the center of political life. Just around the corner from the vibrant piazza, find the famous balcony inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Besides being a city famous for love, Verona also played an important role during the Middle Ages and was one of the significant cities of Northern Italy during this time. That’s why, in the heart of the historical center, you'll find the headquarters of the powerful Scaligeri family: Signori Square or, as the Veronese call it, Dante Square.
Verona has many charming alleys and small streets that your private guide will show you. You'll also receive some insider's tips on the best Veronese restaurants, where you can find the most traditional and delicious regional food. The side streets brings you to the Adige River that still flows into its ancient bed. From here, soak up incredible views of Ponte Pietra, the Roman Theatre and the Archeological Museum.
Before heading back to where you started, your private guide will give you the option to see some of the other interesting sites in Verona, such as the cathedral, the Carega District with the ateliers of local artists or Castelvecchio and the Arch of the Gavi family.
