Probably the best thing about this activity was that after the breakfast you got skip the line entry to the palace, which was beneficial since the queue was quite long, even in early June when we went. The set breakfast was pleasant enough and the staff efficient. Once in the palace the crowds were at times quite overwhelming, but the exhibits were were interesting with good explanatory signs. We had audio guides which also covered most exhibits. (Hint: if you have saved the earphones from another tour, take them as they don't supply them and your arm can get tired holding the audio guide to your ear.) The gardens are amazing. Unfortunately the weather didn't allow us to explore them fully.
You really get “the sun king” experience entering the palace and getting to eat a delicious breakfast in an exclusive dining area. The wait staff were very friendly and it is totally worth skipping the lonngggg and I mean LONG admission line after eating. However, after touring the palace, we were told we couldn’t access the grounds at all because there were musical fountains happening that day. Our ticket clearly indicated that we had access to the grounds but we were not permitted unless we purchased additional tickets which we decided not to. I was really upset about it because Versailles isn’t really a treat until you’ve seen the expansive grounds. So beware of that when booking your excursion!!
