During the summer months, the Gardens of Versailles become even more special when the gates open for a night fountain show. When the sun sets, the fountains inside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed gardens transforms with lights and pyrotechnics that are synchronized with classical music from a Baroque-style orchestra.
After redeeming your ticket voucher at the entrance of the Gardens of Versailles, you’ll be directed through the gardens to the best area to watch the show. For approximately 15 minutes at the end of your evening in the gardens, the Tapis Vert, a long grass carpet, is lit up by a fireworks display. This is accompanied by the French Baroque music of German conductor and violinist Reinhard Goebel and his orchestra, the Musica Antiqua Köln.When the fireworks display has ended, you will be guided back to the entrance of the Gardens of Versailles.

To complete your evening, arrive early and head inside the Palace of Versailles to see a Baroque dance show. Baroque musicians and dancers – all wearing traditional, period costumes – guide you on a musical journey through the State Apartments in the Palace. Admire the fabulous Hall of Mirrors while watching typical Baroque dances such as the Sarabande, Menuet, and Chacrone from a group of musicians and dancers from La Compagnie de Danse de l'Eventail.

Upgrade: Fountain Night Show + Serenade: Dance show finishes at 7:50pm. Enjoy a break before the fireworks display commences from 8:30pm - 11:05pm

The Gardens, Fountains and Fireworks at Versailles were wonderful, however the gates opened at 7.45 and not .30 which was when the Fountains and Music started.
This is the perfect way to visit Versailles. You enter the palace when everyone is exiting. The sun is not hot and the castle is cooler. The sunset lighting is amazing for pictures. You tour all the royal rooms when there is NOBODY there. Just your small group. I even took pictures of the hall of the mirrors ALONE. The music was beautiful . The serenade was ok. The shows are catered to tourists. But having the castle for ourselves made it a wonderful experience. Once the castle tour is over we were asked to go to the gardens. We purchased our ham and cheese sandwich on a fresh baguette and our glasses of champagne and headed to the garden. After our picnic we headed back to the steps in front of then grand canal and waited for the firework listening to classical music. I recommend you getting your spot to watch the fireworks around 9:30pm. And then we watched the sunset . I can't describe how magical it was. The fireworks started around 10pm and lasted 15 minutes. We hired a private driver for 100.00 to drive us back to Paris. He waited for us at the Limousine restaurant located about 10 min away from the fireworks location. We avoided all the crowds and drove straight to our hotel. We took the train to get to Versailles. We arrived at 4pm and had a nice cold beer and watched all kinds of people getting to the palace from the train station. Last comments: there is no tour guide when you visit the castle rooms. So read about the castle before you get there if you want to know more about the sights. No audio, nothing. This is not an informative tour. You walking freely for as long as you want. No pressure kind of tour. Perfect for anyone specially families with children.
