full day Vienna city tour with private guide and various afternoon options

Your tourguide will await you in the lobby of your hotel in Vienna. Together you will make your way by public transport (subway or light rail) to the inner city of Vienna. You will start your tour at the "Marien-Theresien-Platz", the square where you have the mueseum of art and the museum of natural history in sight. Just across the street, the park of the imperial palace starts. You will walk through the park, passing the Mozart memorial to get into the "Hofburg", the palace out of th 13th century. You will continue along the "Kohlmarkt", now one of the main shopping areas in the inner city with traditionally Austrian shops. Your tour continues along the sights of "Graben", named as the Josef-fountain, the plague column and the Leopolds fountain towards the St.Stephan's cathedral. Your tourguide can lead you up the stairs to enjoy the view from the cathedral tower or, if preferred, you just remain inside the cathedral. You will continue your tour towards the "Schwedenplatz", passing tiny streets and historical buildings. At the Danube river, your tourguide will lead you along the old city wall towards the "Stubentor", the current home of the university church. Along the famous "Ring-street", your tourguide will show you same palaces, before you will return to the opera house. You will have a look into the "Kärnter Strasse", where the legendary hotel "Sacher" is located. After a typical lunch in one of the traditionnal coffeehouses, your tourguide will join you for the afternoon programme:

a) tracing the music of Beethoven and Schubert

You will visit the birth place of Franz Schubert and continue to the vacation place of Beethoven at Heiligenstadt. Your tourguide will show you to the new Beethoven museum.

b) Vienna art

The museum of arts Vienna ist one of the most important places for art exhibitions. Your tourguide will guide you through the palace and the art of Raffael, Velasques, Tizian, Vermeer and Breughel.

c) hidden neighbourhoods

Your tourguide will take you to a tour through the traditionnal neighbourhoods in the city of Vienna. Interesting places like the Jewish quarter, the birthplace of the "Walzer" dance or the neighbourhood of Sigmund Freud. A tour to discover "the other side" of Vienna

d) Vienna graveyard

Your tourguide will take you to the 2nd largest graveyard in Europe. You will find all the graves of Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, Brahms and local or international known people. Walk on long avenues, artful tombs and the Jewish area

e) Schönbrunn palace and garden

Your tourguide will take you to Schönbrunn, the summer residence used by the Habsburger until 1918. One of the most beautiful baroque gardens and your tourguide will visit with you the 22 accessible rooms in the palace.
