About this activity
Visit: Spanish Riding School, Michaelerplatz 1 Unter der Michaelerkuppel, Vienna 1010 Austria
Visit the Spanish Riding School in Vienna in the baroque academy and see how the horses train during their morning exercise. Through the specific strengthening and building up of the muscles, the horses’ natural movements are developed into the perfect figures of the High School of classical Horsemanship. As the Riding School do not want to put too much strain on the horses, the classical School Jumps, which are shown during the performances, are not practiced on a daily basis, usually from Tuesday to Friday, accompanied by classical Viennese music.
Programme will be anytime during 10 to 12 hrs. No fixed programme schedule during the training of the horses. Open seating (seats- and standing room).

Very grand a had to be done but overall a little disappointing and uninspiring not sure I'd recommend. But wasn't expensive so if you want to tick it off as we did then do it
We loved the opportunity to see these magnificent animals. We were very confused by aviators direction to obtain tickets. You get the tickets by waiting in the same long line with others who don’t have tickets yet. It went pretty fast once we settled in the line. They sell a huge number each day and it is quite difficult to find a place to see the horses. You need a place to look over the wall so you might have to wait. We went to very top balcony and saw pretty well. The facility was not designed for tourists and they have modified it to allow us to watch training. Each half hour a different group of horses and trainers comes out. Fun to see various skill levels It was a highlight and a change to the museum touring
Don't expect to much, this is not a rehearsal for the show, it is merely the horses exercising individually the various things they do during the show.
