The problem with this tour is a lack of coordination. The instructions are unclear and confusing, and when I called I got a completely different set of instructions. This combination is really three totally separate tours. The Danube River Cruise was great, but it was three hours long. We actually got off at the half way point and took the subway back to our apartment. It was a great cruise and the crew on the boat were great. We even ate lunch on the boat. And having the opportunity to go through a lock on river was unique. When we got to the ticket office they had no idea what to do with us. They called the tour operator and worked it out, but it was the lack of coordination. We were told we could take the 10:30, 11:30 or 2 pm tour. But then we were on our own to get to Schönbrunn Palace for dinner and the concert. Unfortunately the sub way is being rebuilt so it was a combination ride on the subway and bus to get out there, and it took nearly an hour. When we got there it took a little while to fingure out where the restaurant was. The food was no a set menu, but it was ok. The restaurant itself was really nothing special, even though it was “in” in the palace. When dinner was over we were left on our own to figure out where the concert was. Fortunately a german speaking couple asked, and then we asked them. We followed them to the concert. Inside the concert hall, which was the old greenhouse, it was very disorganized. We even had to go and get a separate ticket. Each event was good, but the experience lacked a great deal of coordination.
We had an awesome time and well worth the money. No matter what, arrive early at all the venues and you wont be disappointed.
Both my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The Danube River Cruise was interesting especially going through the first set of locks, an additional plus was the fact that you could dine whilst enjoying your cruise. The staff were very efficient. We also really enjoyed our dining experience at the palace, a lovely meal was presented to us by very pleasant staff. The highlight of the evening being the evening concert this was really very good even though we are both not really classical music people, we found the combination of people playing and other people entertaining us on stage a really enjoyable experience. Well done to the conductor who was also an entertainer himself involving the audience to participate. A really enjoyable day and a good balance of Viennese culture. The only negative was having to go to the palace orangery first to pick up the tickets and then having to get to the pick-up point for the river cruise and then back to the orangery.
The cruise was very nice and relaxing. The dinner was excellent. The concert was fabulous. but be prepared to walk a long way to the Palace and back again to the concert hall. I would recommend this combo trip to anyone.
We enjoyed both parts of this package ,the boat cruise through the Danube canal and river gave good views of Vienna . The concert was very good , the dinner was ok but no choice of menu . The only downside to buying this package is that you have to pick up your tickets at the concert location and that means an extra trip out to Schonbrun at the start of the day at your own expense which takes about an hour round trip before you go to the boat dock . I would think that with the volume of people doing this tour and the sophistication of booking software that the two events could coordinate themselves so that one could pick up the tickets at the boat dock and start the day there.
This was a very rainy day in Vienna. This was the best most of the day activity: boat ride noisy but we got to see lost of the Danube, Schonbrunn Palace castle dinner, and concert the concert could have been better, but it was just OK. They even included subway fare and we spent the entire day....without getting wet!
