Day Trip to Nam Ngum Dam from Vientiane

Bief itinerary: Vientiane - VangXang - Nam Ngung - Ban Keun - Dong Mark Khai Market - Vientiane
You will leave Vientiane on the road No 13 for a car or minivan excursion to reach the Nam Ngum Reservoir, around 100 kilometers from Vientiane. Along the way, you can make a stop to visit the Hmong village, where you can visit both the colorful local market and the friendly local people. After thay, you can visit the Archaeological Site of VangXang which was constructed during the Hmong-Khmer Empire between the 8th and 11th century. At lunch time, you will arrive at Nam Ngum Reservoir and enjoy lunch served at the boat restaurant on the lake.
After having lunch, you will embark for a boat ride to explore the colorful fishing villages in the islands. Along the way back to Vientiane on the road No 10, you can visit a traditional salt abstraction site at Ban Keun and keep on moving to Dong Mark Khai Market where you can see local people gather to sellwild animals together with a wide selection of insects.
In the late afternoon, you will return Vientiane.
