2 Full Days Aukstaitija National Park Experience

DAY 1. Out of the city.
In the morning you will be picked from Vilnius and will drive to Asveja regional park where you will visit Dubingiai town that lies on Asveja shore, the longest lake in Lithuania. You will see Dubingiai castle that is now just the ruins, but used to be one of the most important and luxurious residence in whole Grand Duchy of Lithuania and belonged to the Radvilos the most influential noble family in Lithuania.
Later you will go to Labanoras forest, which is one of the biggest forests in Lithuania. You will hike on the forest trail, climb up the viewtower and have a picnic. In the late afternoon you will arrive to the local homestead where a hot sauna will be waiting for you, which is the best after long day hike.
A warm homemade dinner will be waiting for you once you are done with sauna. And this is not the end of the day. When it gets dark we will go to Moletai astronomy observatory for the night stargazing (subject to weather conditions). During the tour you will have chance to watch the night sky through one of the biggest telescopes in Northern Europe.
After the night program you will go back to the homestead for well deserved rest.
Overnight at the local homestead in the countryside.
At the homesteads the bathroom may be shared among few rooms.
DAY 2.
Have a relaxed no hurry breakfast at your homestead. After breakfast we will leave for another day of exploration in Aukstaitijos national park. This day we will discover Paluse village - which holds the official title of the capital of Aukstaitija National Park. Then we will climb Ladakalnis hill (we Lithuanians call it mountain) to admire panorama of 6 surrounding lakes. The hill itself has a mythological significance and it is thought to be a sacred place of the Baltic goddess Lada, the mother of the world.
Later we will stop at Ginuciai hillfort and water mill used for grinding the grain. It is the only mill that preserved the authentic 19th century equipment and you can learn about the old days bread making process and its long journey to our tables.
We will also visit the only beekeeping museum in Lithuania where we will see the examples of ancient beehives and learn about beekeeping tradition and rites in Lithuania, learn about different kinds of honey.
In the afternoon we will continue our trip to Anyksciai which is famous of its newly built walking path that goes over the tree tops. You will have chance to experience it yourself and walk all along this path ending with the 34 meters high viewtower to admire the beautiful panorama of Lithuanian forests and lakes for one more time.
After Anyksciai we will continue driving to Vilnius which is 1,5 hours away. Drop off to your hotel in Vilnius.
