The tour will begin in the Cathedral Square, where every year there is a fitted crib and the main city Christmas tree with a Christmas Fair. Walking around, let us remember different legends associated with local Christmas. We will visit the Bernardine church, famous not only for good preaches, but also for organized impressive performances. Going through Literatu (Literates) street we will remember the very first Christmas card.
Learn how Christmas was celebrated by the richest Vilnius noblemen as well as Jesuit and Dominican monks.
During the visit in the Lutheran Church we’ll find out a lot of today's Lithuanian Christmas traditions and symbols that came from here. At one of the oldest churches in Vilnius, St. Nicholas church - we remember the origins of the tradition of Christmas gifts. Before Christmas the Town Hall square became a place for 3 markets and travellers were treated by local sweets.
The tour will end at the Amber Gallery, where guided tour will take you to pre-Christian times. Also, here you have an opportunity to make an amber amulet and warm up with a cup of Christmas tea.
