The main bridge into the Uzupis Republic was built in 1901. Today this bridge is adored by lovers who constantly put "love locks" on occasions of engagements, weddings or just to express their love.

Alley of Sculptures, Republic’s Info Bureau and Fool’s Steps

This alley is full of bizarre and amusing sculptures, some of which are permanent and some of which come and go – but they are all worth seeing. The Republic’s Info Bureau is a good starting point for your adventurous discovery of Uzupis Republic. Photography, artefacts, relics are exhibited in this cozy chamber space and invites visitors to learn more about the history and events of Uzupis Republic.

This is a convenient shortcut when coming to or leaving the Republic. If you’re wondering why locals refer to this as the “Fool’s Steps,” you’ll just have to come to Uzupis Republic and find out!

The Prime Minister of Uzupis lives here. Feel free to come inside the yard, take pictures, and if he happens to be at home, feel up to chat as he will come out and meet you.

Stop At: Altana Hill, Krivių g. 18, Vilnius 01209, Lithuania

Altana Hill is one of highest hills in Vilnius and is a mass grave from medieval times. The brighter story of the hill is about its name and the single building on top of it. In the early 1930's one influential local woman organized the building of a small but octagonal structure where her husband grew exotic fruits and plants.

Next is the VDK shop, the oldest boutique in the Uzupis Republic, offering a weird and wonderful variety of goods, fabulous for picking up that authentic and unique gift or souvenir to take home with you.

A Lithuanian beer stop at one of our favourite local joints is included too.

Stop At: Angel of Užupis, Užupio g., Vilnius 01203, Lithuania

The statue of the Angel of Užupis was built in 2001 and is the main landmark of the Republic of Užupis, and tells the story of the district's identity.

Next on the list is the Constitutions Avenue. This street is interesting because the main document of the state is publicly displayed on the longest wall of the district. The Constitution of Uzupis Republic is translated into more than 50 languages. Every year 2-3 new translations are added with participation of VIP guests of both countries, guests of Vilnius city, and citizens of Uzupis.

Stop At: Tymo Turgus, Aukštaičių g., Vilnius 11341, Lithuania

This local market sells organic, local produce, meat, cheese, eggs, and baked goods, as well as freshly squeezed juices and fresh salads.

Your tour will end near one of the ten bridges that belong to this rare bohemian enclave.
