About this activity
Every tour commences with hotel pickup.
3-hour walking tour:
Follow the traces of 19th–century factory owners. To get the best walking tour around Lodz, you must have a visit to Manufaktura - a former factory which was renovated a few years ago. Nowadays this complex, located in the city centre, is a shopping mall. It is also a centre for culture, trade and entertainment. One of the gates remains as a triumphal arch of old mill.
See Poznanski Palace, which belonged to most famous factory magnate in Poland. Currently this building houses the City Museum of Lodz, where you can admire Neo-Baroque facade, staircase, dining- and ballroom. Then have a walk along the longest European trading route – Piotrkowska street. This pedestrian street is heart of the city, full of clubs, restaurants, bars and wide range of cultural sites. Admire old buildings, renovated factories, and a Lodz’ speciality – Rickshaws.
Conclude with a visit to the White Factory (Biała Fabryka), which is home of Textile Museum (Muzeum Włókiennictwa). Museum gathers number of looms, old material and examples of the weaver’s art.
5-hour walking tour:
Following the 3-hour tour, you will see places connected to Jewish history and Litzmannstadt Ghetto. First, Jewish cemetery, which is the largest in Europe. A number of tombs commemorate factory owners like Silberstein, Prusak, or Stiller.
Do not miss spectacular Israel Poznanski mausoleum in Art-Nouveau style. Then, you'll visit Radegast Station (Stacja Radogoszcz) – railway station where more than 140,000 people (mostly Jews) were deported to German concentration camps in Poland. Hear the stories about brave people smuggling food from the countryside to ghetto and escaping from the forced labour camps in Germany.
7-hour walking tour:
This route also allows you to visit Cinematography Museum. Museum is placed in fortress-like Scheibler Palace. Exhibitions show mostly the history of Polish film. After that, your guide will show you Ksiezy Mlyn (Priest’ Mill) district. This lovely quarter is a pearl of 19th century residential complex, including houses, school and shops. Now some of them are converted into artists’ lofts.
Every tour concludes with hotel drop-off
