About this activity

Every year, skyscrapers pop up in Warsaw like mushrooms. The city is developing rapidly, but at the same time, you can still find a mix of architecture that combines pre-war tenement houses with socialist realism buildings, plus modern tower blocks.

You’ll start your Warsaw tour with a visit to the icon of Warsaw: the Palace of Culture and Science that was a gift of “Uncle” Stalin to the Polish nation. The building stands in the middle of the city and remains the central point of Warsaw Downtown. It’s also where you can catch a wonderful skyline view of Warsaw that will show the magnitude of the Polish capital city — we’ll head up to the 30th floor (don’t worry, your entrance ticket is included in the tour price) so you can see the panoramic view. You can also spot some of the major attractions of the city from here, giving you a great intro to the rest of your sightseeing.

Back on the ground of Warsaw Downtown, you’ll see how locals run from one place to another. This is the area where offices, institutions, shops and restaurants dominate.

We’ll then join the line of people waiting at a small bar window for something totally delicious: a warm doughnut filled with rose jam. There is only one place in Warsaw to get these, and we know where it is!

Next, head along the Royal Route and visit the most prestigious street in Warsaw, Krakowskie Przedmiescie. It’s the arterial route of the city that connected the former residences of noblemen, and today it still enchants with palaces, tenement buildings, mansions and churches.

Hungry by now? We hope so! You can’t miss an opportunity to try local tapas such as pigs’ trotters in aspic, herring in oil and vinegar, sour barley soup or pork hock. And you must pair that with one of our Polish herbal bitters or tinctures!

From here, we’re close to entering the Old Town — but we want to show it to you from a better perspective. We’ll go up the Observatory Tower (ticket included in tour price), where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of western Warsaw with The Royal Castle and the Old Town, as well as on the east side of the city across the Vistula River. It’s a view worth seeing, trust us!

Back down on the ground, you may have noticed that everything has slowed down. That’s because you’re now in the Old Town. Narrow, charming streets are packed with galleries, cafés and restaurants. Here people behave a bit differently. Why? We’ll tell you soon enough.

It’s here that we’ll go to the last of our viewing points. See the Old Town Square and the symbol of Warsaw, the Mermaid. Visit the Museum of Warsaw that recently re-opened and head up to the highest floor of one of the Old Town tenement buildings – where the museum is located. (Note that your ticket is included in the tour price, but you have the option to trade your entrance ticket to the museum viewpoint for an alternate site, such as the tower of Trinity Church.)
