Travelling by road from Wellington to Rotorua via the Kapiti Coast, Palmerston North, the central plateau (home to several active volcanoes), Lake Taupo arriving in Rotorua late afternoon.

Day 2: Rotorua: Morning Sightseeing, Te Puia, Agrodome & Rainbow Springs

Following a morning sightseeing tour of Rotorua, head over to Te Puia and experience Rotorua's famous Maori culture and geothermal activity with a tour of the neighbouring Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley - a place where mud pools bubble and boil and geysers shoot steam high into the air.
