On our trip north to the spectacular Kāpiti Coast, we visit the following areas: Porirua, Pukerua Bay, Paekākāriki, Waikanae, Ōtaki, Paekākāriki Hill, Pāuatahanui Inlet.
Your itinerary will reflect your interests, time available and weather. Your day will be based around the following options:
• Pukerua Bay - photo stop for views & history of Kāpiti Island
• Queen Elizabeth Park in Paekākāriki - home to 15,000 American marines during WWII.
• Rangiātea & St Mary's, two historic Ōtaki churches - where our culture meets history.
• Ōtaki's Outlet shops - giving shoppers plenty of opportunity to grab a bargain.
• Southward Car Museum - an internationally recognised privately owned car collection with over 400 cars
• Opportunities to enjoy local birdlife - either at the Waikanae Estuary and Scenic Reserve (shore birds) or at the Ngā Manu Nature Reserve (eels, tuatara, kiwi and other native birds - additional costs apply).
• Kāpiti Tastes - we may also stop to pick your own fruit (in season) and enjoy other local food and drinks, according to your interests.
• Paekākāriki Hill Rd - enjoy stunning views of Kāpiti Coast and visit the rural Pāuatahanui on our drive back to Wellington via the Hutt Valley (time allowing).
Kāpiti shore excursion availability is dependent on your ship's schedule.
