I thoroughly enjoyed this 6 day camping experience. There was a slight mishap with the booking date which confirmed a departure on the Wednesday but when reading the fine print on the voucher it stipulated that this tour departs every Tuesday. My tour director acknowledged that this was on error on their part and he arranged for me to go all on my own with my driver/guide. This was a lovely gesture on his part and he was aware that I had already arranged my flights to Windhoek as well as pre and post tour hotel accommodation. I was initially apprehensive about this since since I like meeting similar-minded people on such tours. It turned out to be an absolute pleasure having the very knowledgeable and welcoming Immanuel all to myself. Manuel was a confident driver who picked me up on time from my hotel room in Windhoek on the Wednesday morning. He handled the touring vehicle well on the 450 km dirt road trip to Sesriem where we set up tent for the 2 nights and explored the area at sunset. Manuel prepared a lovely evening meal of bbq lamb cutlets, game sausage and a green salad. The next day included a full day trip into the Nauklift/Sossusvlei Desert National Park and exploring the wonderful dunes of Sossusvlei as well as Deadvlei. We returned by road to Windhoek for an overnight stay at the touring company's lodge Destiny Tours which was neat and very comfortable. Dinner was not included for this day and organising an evening meal proved a bit of a challenge since it had to be ordered and delivered to the lodge. The next two days involved a road trip to Etosha with its amazing array of wildlife. It is a long drive but once inside the Etosha National Park you lose track of time observing and photographing animals around the waterholes. Immanuel's knowledge of the wildlife and where to best spot them was absolutely helpfull. We camped at a game Lodge about 7 km outside of Etosha where we had the opportunity to get up close at a slight cost to Lions, Hyenas, Rhinos and Cheetahs This campsite was great and Immanuel had prepared a great campfire on both nights where we had lovely evening meals of bbq Oryx steaks and game sausages complemented by the lovely salad Immanuel prepared. I spent 6 wonderful days exploring the desert around Sesriem/Sossusvlei and the amazing wildlife of Etosha in the presence of a capable guide/driver . I rate this tour as 4 star since there are a few things which could be improved including the lack of a fridge/freezer in the touring vehicle which is essential to ensure that food products required for meals are kept at a safe temperature and secondly meal planning should be done in consultation with the guests. Immanuel had taken my advice on board and when we departed on the second half of this tour these recommendations were taken on board and were fully implemented adding to the delight of this experience. This was a short but very memorable experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who would love to experience these 2 vastly different parts of Namibia.
