Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek - Bushcamp

Stop At: Gobabis Airport, Gobabis, Namibia
Guided through several activities, dancing moves for variety of talks, explanations and demonstrations before being offered the opportunity of employing the skills yourself (with the expert guidance of local San & Omuherero host families, e.g. natural fire making without a lighter). Let your holiday be memorable as you positively contribute towards the lives of the local people/communities you visit.
The village visits gives our visitors understanding of local traditions both as in the olden ways of life and now in the changing modernize world including ways how to preserve the culture and heritage of both our San-Bushmen and Ovaherero tribes for future generation in the Eastern Kalahari. Note Important: Here during this tour you meet and stay with the local people, tribes or families.
During this visit our host families will tell you about their history, show and explain about their traditional huts, the lives of today, the positive/negative of modernization. This is hands on participatory cultural experience, very fixable, community based tour so guest must please feel free to ask questions, dance, try on any of their traditional dress, touch, take pictures, join the traditional cow milking process, prepare and taste food with host families.
Day 01: Windhoek to the "BushCamp"
On a very flexible route, guests will be collected from the accommodation in Windhoek between 08h00 - 08h30 and will be driven to our bush wilderness based camp in the Kalahari; via the eastern town of Gobabis. We stop in Gobabis to refuel, collect any last minute supplies for our next 2 nights and lunchpacks before continuing further east towards Otjombinde our wilderness overnight destination.
On arrival you will set up your tents, then go meet the host family/s and explore the surrounding area with the following possible afternoon activities/experiences: Tours are Participatory: The culture and traditions of the people are presented in real and interactive ways, as the village local host go about traditional daily routines of working to make and prepare food. Our guest are expected to partake in this experience because this is a cultural inter exchange community based experiences.
Traditional Dress - Dress in the traditional garments of the Ovaherero People and experience life as one of the villagers. Cultural Dancing and Singing - Cultural performances are by special arrangement only. Experience the intricate rhythms and storytelling performed by members of the local community. Our guest will have a chance to experience the whole process of baking our traditional bread from start to finish.
As the sun is dipping down in the Kalahari at our camp, guest return to the camp for sundowners, whilst dinner cooked over the fire, and the tranquillity of an evening in a remote environment. The evening after supper is spent at campfire while sharing stories with a cash Bush bar naturally opened for cold beer.

Day 2: Bush Camp

Day 02: Bush Camp
You will be given a dawn wake-up call with a hot coffee and bush breakfast before starting with the Ovaherero Expected Morning activities: ‘’Note that’’ The Ovaherero Tribes and their lives, lifestyles, village designs, holy-fire, marriages, funerals, milk/omaere, traditional perfume and the woman traditional dresses are central of cattle to all their existence.
So participatory milking Cows will take place to give our visitors a chance to experience by touch, feel, and see to help the local villagers milking cows. It is a lot of fun, joy, exciting experience and gives one a greater appreciation for nature's abundance.
After the milking of cows our guest will also experience the preparation of milk by stirring milk using a calabash suspended on strips of leather, women traditionally stir milk to make first traditional butter called (omaze uozongombe) and Omaere.
Later once we are finish with the Ovaherero activities our focus will be turn to the oldest, greatest and humble bush teachers of the Kalahari the SAN – BUSHMAN people:
SAN – BUSHMAN ACTIVITIES: The Great Experts of the Kalahari will demonstrate and teach guest how to make a bow and arrow; ostrich egg pearls and crafts, this could take about an hour to an hour and half. Our tours are flexible, educational for those guest with an open mind and equally with respect, humbleness to the local communities we visit and share knowledge and love with.
In between lunch will be served under a tree and after that allow to time for our guest to relax, meditate or read a book.
Our host San family will then later call us for the afternoon activities which will include a bush walk with a small clan of the San family to teach and demonstrate to our guest, their old hunting skills such as tracking, wind directions, stalking and finding underground water roots as well as gathering of bush food, the use of other edible plants, technique of locating and modern use.
The game tends to concentrate in the bush and our chances of spotting different species are enhanced by the sharp eyes of the natural and biodiversity experts (Bushman). Wherever they spot the species/spoor our Bushman experts will give you the story behind the animal tracks and point to the fascinating detail that is too easily missed. Guest are allowed at all times to hunt/shoot with their cameras.
This is a participatory tour experience thus an opportunity to try and shoot with a bow, throw a spear, lighting fire with sticks, making ropes and snares and all this will be available during the bushwalk. The Bushman expert will later lead us back to the camp. No GPS allowed during this session, hence, observation, attentive listening to Bushman experts and interaction through questions remains important.
The day ends off later with San singing, dancing; playing games, rope jumping while all that will be explained to our guests. Traditional usage of local plants, herbs for medicines and healing purposes will be demonstrated around the campfire. A MUST participatory cultural experience, where guests are free to join in the fun and dance with the San family.
We then call it a day and our dinner will be prepared on an open campfire.

Day 3: Bush Camp -Windhoek

Day 03: Return Windhoek
Early morning bush breakfast, breaking down of tents, packing, saying good bye to our friends and the host family before returning to Windhoek. In Gobabis the guest are free to have coffee, cake and a glass of wine at own cost before we return to Windhoek expected arrival time is 3pm. The guests can either be dropped off at the Hosea Kutako International Airport for their departure or back to Windhoek.
