About this activity
In the morning we will set off from your hotel or the train station in Xi’an, beginning our day tour of the Flourishing Age of the Empire. First we will go to Hanyang Tomb, the burial site of Emperor Han Jing, one of the founders of the Han Dynasty, and his queen Wang. The construction of the vast mausoleum lasted more than 28 years. Besides the Compass Rock and the South Gate, it is important to see the underground kingdom of Hanyang, which has an underground legion comparable to Qin Shihuang’s. Although the size of the terracotta warriors is only 1/3 the size of a real person, but the craftsmanship is far superior to Qin Shihuang’s warriors. Even the real Han society moved into this underground kingdom.

After visiting the Hanyang Tomb, we will go to the Tomb of the Crown Prince Yide to see the beautiful Tang Dynasty murals, Tang tri-color glazed pottery, and other precious historical relics unearthed in the tomb. After lunch, we will head to the most mysterious mausoleum where Wu Zetian, the only female emperor of China, and her husband Emperor Gaozong Lizhi are buried. Here there are 61 statues from the Tang Dynasty, as well as a mysterious and controversial blank stele. Of course, the style and structure of the entire tomb passage is worth pondering. It embodies the values of the entire Tang Dynasty society 1400 years ago.

Finally, we go to the Buddhist shrine—Famen Temple, along with the world’s largest underground palace. When the Famen Temple’s underground palace was discovered in 1987, its collection of treasures from the Tang Dynasty were also unearthed. Since then, Famen Temple has become a mecca for tourists from all over the world. Its treasures include the relic of Gautama Buddha’s finger bone, the mystic color porcelain, the Eight Treasure Boxes, and other cultural relics. After the tour, we will return to Xi’an.
