About this activity
You will be met and picked up from your Xi'an hotel in the morning. Your private tour of Xi’an begins with a visit to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors Museum, the largest underground army. The vaults are 1.5 km away from the Mausoleum of First Emperor Qin Shihuang. The 7,7995 square feet (14,629 square meter) Vault 1 was excavated in 1975. The 6,000 life-size terracotta warriors and horses are acclaimed as the “eighth wonder of the world.” In the pits, bronze swords, spears, crossbows and other weapons were found, all well preserved. Vault 2 covers an area of 19,685 square feet (6,000 square meters) and contains 1,000 odd pottery men and horses. Vault 3 is only 1,640 square feet (500 square meters) large and has 68 guards. Vault 1 and Vault 2 are now open to visitors.

Later, you will take a break for lunch at your own expense but your guide will gladly offer ideas and recommendations. Then drive back to Xi’an downtown to visit the well-preserved Ancient City Wall. Built during the Tang Dynasty, when the city, Chang’an, was capital, the wall is the only complete city wall extant in China. The rectangular wall is (7.4 miles) 11.9 kilometers long, 39.4 feet (12 meters) high, 39.4 feet to 46 feet (12 to 14 meters) wide on top, and 49.2 feet to 59.1 feet (15 to 18 meters) wide at the base. There are 5,894 crenels along the exterior wall, but no crenels on the interior side. Turrets are at the four corners. Each side has a gate. On top of the gates are main towers and watchtowers. A moat protects the perimeter. You can take a walk on the wall or go fishing by the moat. You may take a bike tour on the city wall to circle around the old city (optional) or walk around to have a leisure time. After a good visit here, your guide and driver will transfer you to the Muslim Quarter, a lively area buzzing with various food stalls, souvenir shops and visitors from around the world. Your tour ends when you're driven back to your hotel.

Traveling with a family is not always easy so I have nothing but praise for our guide's patience. The Terracotta Warriors are indescribable in their scale and beauty. Having wanted to see them for a long time I wasn't disappointed. The opposite..
