We had a great visit of the Terracota Warriors with Maggie despite the crowd of the national holiday week! She then took us to a place where we tasted some very good local food and attend a tea ceremony. Just be careful to the price of the items they will try to sell you, it is very high!! So don't hesitate to negotiate ;)

My guide was Maggie again from a tour the previous day. It was raining and dull, but not deterred, we set off for the Terracotta Warrior site. Even though it was raining, there were many many people there to tour the site. Maggie was great and very knowledgeable of the history of the Chinese dynasty's and the site in general. We visited a gift shop where I met the farmer who had discovered the Warriors back in 1974. I had the obligatory picture and bought a book. Maggie took me to the three big Hangers which house the different pits and exhibits. It was sometimes difficult to take good pictures due to the number of people around, Maggie would provide history details when necessary and would advise me of the best places to take pictures. Afterwards, we walked to a local restaurant where I had a traditional tea preparation and some lunch, before the drive back to Xi'an. It was a wonderful day, event though it was wet and cold. Maggie was fantastic and I really enjoyed myself. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Xi'an.

Maggie was phenomenal and super knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this trip. My boyfriend proposed to me outside on a path and Maggie was able to get pictures of the special moment! Absolutely a wonderful trip to see the Terracotta Warriors.

This is the perfect length of time to see the warriors, and I enjoyed having my own guide and driver. I could decide when I'd had enough. Note that at this time of year, it is just before the big Golden Week celebration, so there are already some local crowds. It's about an hour out of downtown Xi'an to get to the museum. First stop is the official store, so be prepared for that. You get to see the farmer who discovered the warriors he signs books. The warrior replicas are higher quality here than elsewhere, but you pay more for it. Most of the warriors are in the first pit you visit a few are in the second one the third is largely covered for conservation. There is a bronze chariot museum at the end. Don't be discouraged by crowds in the first pit they move through quickly. Be patient and jockey for space at the railing. On the way out, there is likely time to stop for a snack in the part of Xi'an where the museum is for the drive back I can't get enough of those little burgers. If you're leaving Xi'an that same day, consider asking to couple this with an airport transfer it's an additional charge, but it can work well for afternoon flights and save you a doubled up transportation logistic.
