About this activity
Pick up from hotel in Xiamen in the morning, take 1.5 hours drive to Anxi, the home town of Tieguanyin, one of the famous Oolong tea.
Visit Anxi Tea Garden. Take a walk through the tea garden and have a tasting of various Oolong tea. You could also participate in the tea picking and production process if it is the season.
After having local lunch, visit Tea Capital, the largest wholesale market of Tieguanyin (Oolong Tea) in China. Tea farmers gather to show their finished specialty tea to prospective wholesalers and retailers. Negotiations happen on the spot. Once a desirable tea is found, the tea will be steeped “gung fu” style to assure the taste. If the sale goes through, the tea is then taken to have the stems removed and then loaded to the back of a motorbike to be delivered to its new owner.
After that, visit Anxi Chenghuangmiao (Old City God Temple), the oldest and most influential Taoism temple in the area.
Transfer back to Xiamen after the tour.
