About this activity
Meet your guide and small group in front of the Asia Plaza Hotel and head to the Central Railway Station to catch the circular train, a rail network that serves the Yangon Metropolitan Area. The 28-mile (46-km) loop aboard the local commuter train connects several satellite towns and suburban areas via 39 stations and is one of the best ways to discover Yangon.

Your half-day tour takes you beyond the city center to see a real cross-section of Yangon, observing the colorful urban lifestyle of the locals. The entire loop takes about three hours to complete, but you’ll hop off at Da Nyin Gone Station to visit a lively local market. Spend about 45 minutes wandering through the stalls, meeting vendors and witnessing authentic life in Yangon. You’ll learn about commodities that are basic necessities for life here, and perhaps grab a coffee or tea from one of the small shops.

Re-board the train and continue downtown, where you’ll visit the largest Cathedral in Myanmar- St.Mary Cathedral. By the end of your small-group tour, you’ll have a deeper impression of Yangon, including its colonial and spiritual heritage, evident throughout the city and its suburbs.

Great experience of travelling like a local, meeting the locals and tasting local food. Myet was very knowledgeable about Yangon and ensured he provided us information along the way. The market was packed with vendors selling an array of colourful fruits and vegetables. Would highly recommend

This was a tour I was excited about from the first time i saw it. I was not disappointed. If experiencing local culture and lives are important to you, i’d highly commend this tour. One of the more fascinating we’ve ever taken.

The train ride itself is a full-on slice of life of what it means to be an average Myanmar citizen, going through rural neighbourhoods and market places. It's a must do for any visitor for Yangon. But with a flat fee of 200 kyats 15 cents US per ride for the average commuter, it's hard to justify the price tag of this tour. Visitors spend 3 hours riding on the train itself - 1.5 hours between each stop, which is too long and could've been broken up by more interesting stops. The two stops made - one to visit a market and the other to have lunch - are interesting but not fascinating. The guide is enthusiastic and friendly but didn't add much to the tour in terms of knowledge.

this is a must do , while in Yangon there were only two off us on this day and are guide was peter win who was a excellent guide after meeting peter at are meeting point , we took a short walk to the train station , as we were going past all off the different stations , peter was pointing things out to us and explain what they were , while travelling on the train , loads of local vendors were walking though the train selling there local produce , we stopped halfway and was taken around a local market , before continuing on the train at the end of the train journey we were then taken to a local restaurant to try the local food I would definitely recommend doing this tour if you want to see local Yangon life
