About this activity
Morning pick up around 07:30 at hotel and we'll start the tour near Mahabandoola Park. Which is in the heart of Yangon City and our guide will give a presentation of Yangon, its history, cultural heritage and religions as there have a Buddhist temple, Christian Church, Muslim Mosque, Jewish temple and Hindu Temple. Continue walk through down town Yangon and explore a couple of dozen of beautiful colonial buildings. On and off we'll check in to some tea houses in Yangon to taste sweet tea, plain tea and also to eat tea-leaf salad which is very famous Burmese snacks. Guide will order 6 different kind of teas to taste and note it down which is the best and most suited tea for you. Also explain more about tea culture, people life styles and why tea makes Myanmar tick, and it’s been that way for a long, long time. The country has a culture of tea drinking that is very much its own and has been shaped and reshaped by its history. Myanmar has formed a special relationship with the leaves which are drunk daily by millions, and even eaten in lahpet thote – a delicious salad of fermented tea leaves. Burmese cuisine claims six flavors: spicy, salty, bitter, sweet, sour and astringent. Tea has the flavor of “astringent”. Tea shops are everywhere in Myanmar, and they are an important part of our communal life. Tea shops are not just where people go to get good, cheap food, it's a part of our culture, history, and where people go for all matters in life. People used to use tea shops as space to talk politics or broker a deal. The best part about sitting at a tea shop is we can find out what’s going on outside of your home. There’s one simple pleasure we recommend, and that’s a visit to a tea shop and to learn about the why and how tea has become such an integral part of Myanmar culture. Visiting a tea shop in Myanmar is an authentic cultural experience, and it’s even more enriching because of the incredible history behind it. Tea has been drunk for over ten millennia.

Tour will include a few hours walking in Yangon and end around 12:00 at Rangoon Tea House where you'll finally taste the most suitable taste of tea that you've noted down before.
