Yellowstone Hellroaring Creek Day Hike with REI
1 day
About this activity
Itinerary
This full day adventure is chock full of history, geologic oddities, and a beach! We start at 6,460’ and quickly descend nearly a thousand feet as we make our way towards Hellroaring Creek. Those with a strong fear of heights might reconsider this hike when crossing the impressive steel suspension bridge that spans the mighty Yellowstone River. Built in 1935, this bridge grants us access across a deep rock gorge and on to the rest of our adventure. We’ll have views of Hellroaring Mountain, a unique outcropping of granite and we’ll constantly keep our eyes peeled for elk, bison, and even grizzly sightings. Trails end brings us to a picturesque sandy beach at the confluence of Hellroaring Creek and the Yellowstone where your guide will prepare a lunch spread while you relax and soak in the scenery. After lunch and some rest and exploration we’ll return the way we came.
