About this activity
On this day trip from Zadar, you'll discover the island of Pag, known for salt, lace, cheese, and its unique stone landscape. It's also known as one of the sunniest islands in the Adriatic, with more than 2,500 hours of sunshine per year.

After pickup from your hotel in Zadar you'll be transported in a comfortable private vehicle to Pag. Here, a private guide will give you an in-depth tour of the island's history, architecture, and culture. You'll visit the Church of the Assumption of Mary, which holds a Holy Cross from the early 15th century. You'll also see the 15th century Church of St. George, part of the defensive wall of the city, and the Church of St. Francis.

Walking through the city you will find the Benedictine Monastery of St.Margaret. In medieval times, Benedictine nuns had a special and important role in Pag, especially in the education of girls. The nuns ran the town's first nursery and school, and taught girls the craft of lace making, a large part of Pag's economy. Today, Pag lace makers can be seen on the streets making beautiful needlework. Stop by the Pag Lace Gallery in the Petar Krešimir IV square and learn more about the craft or shop for souvenirs.

You'll also visit salt storage facilities and learn about the importance of salt for the island.

Next, drive from Pag to Lun. Along the way you'll see giant stone walls, which are some of the most well-preserved in Croatia. Your guide will tell you more about their structure and use. You'll also pass the Gradac viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of Pag and the countryside.

Make a stop at the Gligora cheese factory in Kolan, where you'll enjoy a tasting and learn about cheese production in the region. Some of the cheeses produced here have won awards for being the best in the world.

On arrival in Lun, the northernmost point of Pag island, you'll visit a natural olive tree reservation. Some of these trees are 2000 years old! This entire area is full of dreamy landscapes of olive trees and botanical gardens, and you'll have time to relax and enjoy the sights and aromas, as well as visit the botanical garden.

In the late afternoon, you will return to Zadar and dropped off at your hotel.
