Plitvice Lakes is the oldest, largest and the most beautiful National park in the Republic of Croatia. The park is situated in the mountainous region of Croatia, between the Mala Kapela mountain range in the west and northwest, and the Lička Plješivica mountain range to the southeast. The lake system is comprised of 16 named and several smaller unnamed lakes, cascading one into the next. Due to the geological substrate and characteristic hydrogeological conditions, the lake system has been divided into the Upper and Lower lakes.

And in the fall, you can feed your soul and body with fruits of hip, elderberry, apple, blackberry, corn and chestnut, and enjoy in the mix of colors and sounds. Imagine autumn walk in the woods, on the big natural carpet made of leaves with different colors and collecting natural treasures in coexistence with squirrels and deers. Who would've wanted more?

Stop At: The Museum of Army Collections from the Croatian Homeland War, Turanj ul., Karlovac Croatia

A collection of Homeland War arms and equipment in Turanj is an open-air museum, under the skies that remember all the wars in this area. And there were way too many wars. The history of Turanj is closely connected to the history of the Karlovac fort, as its outpost used to defend the Korana and Mrežnica bridges leading into the town. It was names after the ‘turans’, wooden guard towers erected along the Korana banks.

Throughout the history, Turanj has been a constant site of military and war activity. As the first entrance into the Karlovac area, with bridges over two rivers, it attracted both the welcome guest and the unwelcome ones. The latter caused problems from time to time.
