About this activity
The capital of Croatia is a charming place by day. But its charms continue throughout the night. In the company of the licenced tour guide explore the illuminated streets of Kaptol and Gradec hills. Listen to the stories from the past times.
Start your walk in front of the early 20th century Zagreb Cathedral of the Asumption of the Virgin Mary, the biggest and the most important religious building in the country. Marvel at the intricate carved details of its neogothic facade, masterpiece of the German architect Herman Bolle from Cologne.
Your walk continues down to the Tkalciceva Street, in the evening always packed with locals and tourists, enjoying beer, a little bit of gossiping and a lot of people-watching. Your tour guide will recommend to you bars and clubs where you can party until the wee hours.
Enter the old medieval Upper Town through the iconic Stone Gate. Soon you will be hearing your footsteps on its cobblestones and watching the shadows play thanks to the lights of the heritage gas lanterns. They were introduced to Zagreb back in 1863 when the city had 364 of them. Today 214 gas lanterns are still in use.
Take a quick look at St Mark's Square with beautifully decorated ceramic rooftop of St Mark's Church and nearby illuminated facades of the House of Parliament of Croatia and the House of Government.
Finally, stop in front of the medieval Lotrscak Tower, once part of the city's medieval fortifications where you enjoy the night skyline of Zagreb's Downtown.
