About this activity
An excursion to the ever popular summer and winter resort in the heart of Central Switzerland. Engelberg (Angel Mountain) was originally founded by the Benedictines, and the imposing monastery dominates the center of the village. The Baroque style monastery church, which houses the largest organ in Switzerland, is open for visits to the public.

Enjoy a 2 - 3 hour independent stay in this lovely mountain village to relax or stroll. Return by coach via Lucerne (some time at leisure) back to Zurich.

I was not at all happy with the way this tour was planned out. We thought that it was going to be a guided tour of Engelberg just as many of our other tours by this company were, but instead we were just provided a bus service. There were 4 other tour groups in the bus with us and every group was just dropped off and picked up at their locations without any knowledge of what to do or see. Also, while Engelberg was a beautiful place to be, it is a ski resort town and as it was summer, there was very little to do. Almost all of the shops and restaurants open around 2 or 3 pm but we were taken there in the morning so everything was closed. Overall, this was a shuttle bus service, not a day tour, and I wouldn't recommend booking with this company. I do, however, recommend visiting Engelberg on your own time when the shops are open and there are things to do around.

Had a great trip. But should have done a private trip as we were almost left behind in Lucerne walking trip owing to not able to walk fast enough with the rest of the group

Very small town. No place to enjoy except you opt to spend some money and go to brunii or other nearby places with play parks and other sporting clubs

The place was stunning! Although we were left there alone with no tour guide to talk about the place. The rest of the group went up to mount titlis and picked us up on the way back. A little disappointing.
