About this activity
Meet your friendly, professional guide in central Beirut, and then head straight to Jeita, which is 12 miles (20 km) north of Beirut. The fascinating town is home to one of the world's most beautiful caverns, known as the Jeita Grotto, which was a finalist in the New7Wonders of Nature, a 2011 competition for the best natural wonders on the planet. Visit the lower caverns by boat on a subterranean lake, and then see the dry upper gallery on foot with your guide. The main source of the Dog River (Nahr El Kalb) rises from this incredible cavern.

Your comfortable coach will then take you to the ancient city of Byblos, one of the oldest towns in the world, dating back at least 7,000 years. The rise and fall of nearly two dozen successive civilizations make this site one of the richest archeological areas in the country. Today a busy modern town, Byblos is home to a medieval Roman port, which is one of the city’s tourist hubs. Your guide will tell about the landmarks in this area such as Byblos Castle, built by the crusaders in the 12th century. You’ll also learn about the extensive remains of city’s past.

After a relaxing lunch of traditional meze and tapas at a Lebanese restaurant in Byblos (included), head off to Harissa. This beautiful village boasts stunning, panoramic views across the Bay of Jounieh on the Mediterranean coast. Admire the Statue of the Virgin Mary, which can be seen from miles away, and visit inside the statue's base – a chapel with an exterior spiral staircase. This sanctuary is a destination for countless pilgrims who come from all over. After a photo opportunity at this major Lebanon attraction, return to Beirut in the relaxing comfort of your luxury coach.

Please note: Though the US Department of State has issued a warning against travel to Lebanon due to safety and security concerns, Viator’s Lebanon tours continue to operate with no disruptions. This day trip is well worth doing if you want to see some amazing sights. The Jeita grotto is beautiful and Harissa and Byblos are such interesting places to see. The views are amazing in both. The lunch which is included in the price is great too. Lebanese mezze which will certainly fill you up. Great day out.

We had a great time on this tour through Byblos, Jeita and Harissa. We had a friendly guide (unfortunately I have forgotten his name) who was able to explain the history of each spot very well. The included lunch was delicious, it's hard to go wrong with Lebanese food! I highly recommend this who want to see all of these famous spots in 1 day, managing it on your own to get around would be tough without a local.

It was a great day of touring...from the hotel pickup and drop-off, to all the sites and friendly service. Our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable...the sites were what I wanted...and the lunch was out of this world. Will use your services again in the future. Thanks for a great tour!

Hello, I thought that I should share my personal experience that I received yesterday from one of your guides. The lady was excellent at her job - showing an in depth knowledge of all the places visited. I believe her name was Mia. She answered all questions with a breadth of knowledge - that I frankly didn't expect. She took her time to ask what language we as a group, would like to converse in. She was asked to speak in both French and English, she did this with great aplomb. She took all questions in her stride and had time for everyone - a great asset to The food we had was excellent too, everyone commented on this at my table. Please pass my gratitude to Mia for an out of this world tour. Regards, B.Johannesen.

Excellent service by Nakhal and Cai - Pick up from the hotel, the welcome at pick up point, the cleanliness of the Coach, the Driver, the Tour Guide, the Lunch Venue (arranged Vegetarian Option at a short notice) and off course the attractions. Thank you.

A must see trip to Jeita Grotto, Harissa and Byblos. The tour is around 8 hours and you get picked up from your hotel. Jeita Grotto was absolutely wonderful. We got to see both the upper and lower grotto. Lower grotto is accessible depending on the water level in the grotto. We were lucky enough to see. Byblos is a very ancient city and worth seeing. Be ready for a long walk thru the history of this ancient city. A cable ride to Harissa was enjoyable. The Lady of Lebanon was very gracious. The sight from the mountain of beirut below is awesome. Our guide Lucy was wonderful and she explained everything in detail. The lunch was excellent. I would like to mention that Beirut is a beautiful city and very safe for travellers in spite of cautionary travel advisory from many countries.

We were picked up on time from our hotel in Beirut. The Jeita grotto and Byblos were beautiful. The tour guide was friendly, but I wish she would explain more about each site and share more history. Byblos was a bit rushed not much time to explore. Overall a great experience and recommended.

Jeita grotto was wonderful. Seeing the stalagmites and stalagtites was breathtaking. There is one over 8 meters in length which is claimed to be the largest in the world. No photos allowed... disappointment and I fail to understand that reasoning. Byblos was worth seeing for the opportunity to view ancient ruins. Tour guide Georgette was examplary. Lunchtime at 2:30 was late after starting the day at 7:45a.m. Perhaps the tour operator should investigate alternative restaurants.
