Cascais: Glamour, Luxury and Decay by The Lisbon Coastline
3 h
About this activity
A necklace of splendid sandy beaches cut under the protective wing of Sintra mountain range, the Portuguese Riviera lives on its natural beauties but also on the retro vibe that invokes the early years of Portuguese tourism. A former fishermen's village, Cascais was converted in a Court’s town in the late XIX century, while neighbor Estoril became an upper bourgeoisie resort - the first in the country - after World War I. Those memories still linger on and shape the landscape of the Sun Coast, from lush revivals to romantic ruins, from not so distant memories of worldly pleasures to intricate plots of old school espionage.
During this half day tour we'll along the 3 km long promenade by the seaside connecting Cascais (our starting point) with São João do Estoril, both close to train stations of the Lisboa-Cascais line. We may stop and even make long detours in Monte Estoril and Santo António do Estoril depending on the curiosity and the tastes of our guests.
