This trip leaves so much to be desired. One of our first stops was mall for over an hour. We didn’t pay to shop at a mall. In contrast, most of the National Park stops were allotted less than an hour. Forget walking to scenic overlooks. Stops were simply comprised of get off the bus, take a few pictures and then run back to the bus. Souvenir shopping is next to impossible, and if you need to use the restrooms, be prepared to spend half of your sight-seeing time in line. Most of the hotels were 1 or 2 star at best. We travelled with two other couples, and at every hotel, someone had to change rooms. We were given rooms where the air conditioner didn’t work, where mold was visible and the smell overwhelming, where food stains were on the carpet, furniture, and ceiling, where phones didn’t work, where the bed stank and squeaked, and where the door would not lock because the door jamb was bent from what looked like a forced entry. Two hotels didn’t have an elevator, so we had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs. Mostly, were on our own for securing food for breakfast and dinner. Walking to a gas station to find food for breakfast because the hotel restaurant wasn’t open, or arriving late and walking in the dark to find food for dinner is ridiculous. The description doesn’t tell you that you have to load the bus by 6:30 each morning, and having to walk to a convenience store on the corner in search of breakfast requires a very early wake-up call, and that after a late arrival at the hotel (after 8:00 PM), dealing with room assignments and problems, and walking to find something for dinner. Be prepared to get only five hours of sleep a night. Our tour guide was nice and knowledgeable, but English was her second language and was passable at best. Half the time we couldn’t understand her. In addition to the online payment, you are required to bring an additional two-hundred fifty in cash per person to cover admission fees , fuel charges, and service charges (a tip), and this is in addition to food costs. Again, we loved seeing the National Parks, but the hours on the bus (over nine hours one day), the poor quality of accommodations, the less than desirable food situation, the limited time at the actual places you paid to see, and the hidden costs of the extra fees make this a trip we would not take again or recommend.
