Somehow, we'd totally thought we booked some kind of cooking class through Do Eat Better, so when we arrived in Genoa and realized we'd be eating our way through the city while we walked, we were initially skeptical. But we quickly learned that this was a really unique, delicious way to see the sights from a local's perspective. Our guide was really, really incredible. Not only did she share with us facts about the landmarks and local traditions, but she pointed out personal stories (like the building her family used to manage a restaurant in, for example, or where she attended school on the top floor of a beautiful building). In the best way possible, we felt like we had met a friend who was guiding us through their hometown. Our tour was just us (my husband and me) and a family of four from our cruise ship. It was perfect. Pasta. Focaccia. Wine. Gelato. Show up HUNGRY.
Marina did our food tour in Genoa and was simply the best!! She walked us around to some of the places offering all the local specialties! We tasted Everything! She explained the history and significance of these incredible dishes and mixed in local history and interesting facts about the town as we walked. Totally enjoyed the experience w Marina and left totally full and with great understanding of the local food. She even stopped off at a great market so we could buy things to take home with us!! 6 stars if I could!!
We signed up last minute for this tour and are really glad we did. AnnaLisa was a great guide, easy to talk to and clearly knows and loves Genoa. We tasted some amazing local food and got to see the highlights of the city. You won't walk away hungry!
Our tour on Sun, 9/2, 2018 was a fabulous and so delicious way of trying the different types of food in Genoa! Marina was our guide and we stopped at about 5 different restaurants/ street stands that allowed us to try focaccia, prepared many different ways, anchovies, shrimp and calamari !! It was incredibly delicious! We had wine, and if you didn't feel like wine, you could have a soft drink or water. Marina was very sweet and knowledgeable about the area of Genoa that she spoke about. She was also well versed in all the types of regional foods of Genoa and a very social person to talk to! It was a wonderful day, spending about 3 1/2 hours eating delicious Italian food! Thank you Marina!
