Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day

Stop At: Dalaman Airport, Ege, 48770 Dalaman/Muğla, Turkey
After your arrival into Dalaman Airport, you will be picked up by our professional driver and start the tour in Kayakoy, a peaceful farming community close to Fethiye.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Darbogaz, Kayakoy 48300 Turkey
This evening there will be the option of taking a walk around the deserted Greek village of Kayakoy. Dominating the mountainside that overlooks the village, Kayakoy has fallen into ruin since the departure of the Greeks in 1923, forced out by the Treaty of Lausanne. Today its ghostly buildings cast a strange profile against the sky, giving the impression of a town cursed by its turbulent past.

Day 2: Enjoy views of Oludeniz Beach as you walk to Faralya village

Stop At: Ovacik, Ovacik, Oludeniz, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
There is a second chance to have a short walk around Kayakoy before breakfast before we hike from Ovacik village, nestled on the hillside overlooking Oludeniz, and head south up onto the outflung shoulders of Baba Dagi (1989 m).

Along the way, we are rewarded with exceptional views over Turkey's most photographed beach of Oludeniz.

Stop At: Faralya, Faralya, Uzunyurt, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
Passing through lush green pine forests and remote villages we will descend to the village of Faralya which is situated on a small plateau above the fjord-like Butterfly Valley, where steep limestone cliffs drop to the sea.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Butterfly Valley, Fethiye Turkey
Butterfly Valley is a lepidopterist's delight, deriving its name from the abundance of creatures that flutter about its lush canyon walls.

Today's 13-kilometre walk is expected to take around five hours with 600 metres of ascent, the morning is mostly uphill, but the gradient is never severe.

Day 3: Hike through a beautiful forest and farmland to village of Gey

Stop At: Kabak Koyu, Faralya Koyu, Fethiye Turkey
Starting gently uphill through the pine forest, we reach some farmland with open fields that give way to spectacular terraces with views of the villages far below, as well as across the sea to some distant islands.

We then descend for a while, towards the distant beach and the village of Kabak.
On the higher slopes of the village, we will follow an ancient path into a blind valley before we climb up through the pine forest again to the small village of Alinca. Perched high over the sea, we can take a well-earned tea break with the local villagers before continuing the hike.

Stop At: Fethiye, Fethiye, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
In the afternoon we will pass high above stunning bays of this spectacular coastline as we head towards the village of Gey, our destination for the night.

Today's 18-kilometre walk is expected to take around seven hours with 850 metres of ascent for about an hour and a half before relaxing and enjoy some lunch.

Day 4: Hike to the ancient city of Sidyma

Stop At: Sidyma Antik Kenti, Dodurga Mahallesi Dodurga Koyu, Fethiye Turkey
From Gey, the Lycian Way continues through the stunning coastal scenery staying high as far as Bel, then climbs via some vast plains and pine forests, before descending to Sidyma Ancient City ( Dodurga Village).

The site has some excellent preserved and unusual tombs from the Roman and Byzantine period.

A tea stop can be made at a house opposite to the mosque.

Stop At: Patara Ruins, Patara Turkey
From the site, we then make a transfer (approx 30 minutes) to the village of Patara where we spend two nights. Today's 12-kilometre walk is expected to take around five hours with 260 metres of ascent and 640 metres of descent.

Day 5: Follow the amazing route of the aqueduct to Patara Beach

Stop At: Delikkemer Aqueduct, Yeşilköy, 07965 Kaş/Antalya, Turkey
Following the route of the aqueduct from Delikkemer to Patara we will hike across fertile fields and through the pine forest, enjoying the stunning coastal views before you descend to the southern part of Patara Beach.

Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Patara Ruins, Patara Turkey
Here you will have a chance to swim and explore the extensive ruins of ancient Patara, the birthplace of Saint Nicholas.

Today's eight-kilometre walk will take around three-and-a-half hours, with additional time for exploration of the ruins and on the beach.

Day 6: Ascend to Mount Felen and drive to the harbour town of Kas

Stop At: Kas, Kas, Turkish Mediterranean Coast
Taking a journey across streams and through villages that is almost untouched by the modern life, the path climbs to a ridge, Mount Felen, with views of the higher mountains inland and the coast below that is virtually unsurpassed.

We then descend by vehicle to Kas, which is one of the most beautiful ports on the Turkish Riviera, with a magnificent backdrop of limestone cliffs.

Kas is an excellent place to relax, with cafes and restaurants spilling out onto the cobbled streets and a maze of tiny back-alleys to explore. Today's 16-kilometre walk is expected to take around six hours with 400 metres of ascent.

Day 7: Walk to the ancient port of Aperlae and take a Kekova Bay boat trip

Stop At: Aperlai Ancient City, Akdeniz, Kas 07580 Turkey
This morning we will hike to the hamlet and ancient port of Aperlae before taking a boat to the castle-topped village of Simena which is one of the most beautiful settings on the Mediterranean.

A small village which is only accessible by foot or boat, its harbour is sprinkled with Roman baths, ancient sarcophagi (tombs), and houses that cling to a hillside that is beneath a medieval castle.

Stop At: The Lycian Way, OvacIk, Fethiye Turkey
Hiking up to the castle you will find within its walls a small ancient theatre that is the smallest in Lycia, with a seating capacity for about 300 people. Carved from solid rock, it is a beautiful place to sit back and soak up the beautiful scenery and layers of history.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sunken City Ruins of Simena, The Mediterranean Sea, Kekova 07570 Turkey
On the way to Simena, we will visit the sunken city of Kekova by boat where you can enjoy a tasty BBQ lunch on board.

Because of the different earthquakes, the partly submerged streets and buildings can in the crystal clear waters, and there are visible mosaic pavements, terracotta amphorae, walls and staircases that once formed part of this remote island community.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Andifli, Atatürk Blv. No:17, 07580 Kaş/Antalya, Turkey
Then go back to Kas for our final evening. Today's 10-kilometre walk is expected to take around three hours with 100 metres of ascent.

Day 8: Departure Day

Stop At: Dalaman Airport, Ege, 48770 Dalaman/Muğla, Turkey
Today after breakfast and depending on your flight time, we transfer you to Dalaman airport where our trip ends, or you could choose to extend your stay.
