About this activity
DAY 1: Your guide will pick you up at Muscat International Airport and you directly start to explore the highlights of the capital of Oman, Muscat.The Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the 5th biggest Mosque in the world (please consider the dress code) is the first stop. Pass the embassy quarter and stop at the beautiful Royal Opera House (photo stop only). Continue to Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by two Portuguese Forts, called Al Mirani and Al Jalali. Visit the Bait Al Baranda Museum. After this you drive along the corniche to Muttrah Souk, the oldest souk in Oman. Leave Muscat in the early afternoon and the old town of Al Hamra in the interior of Oman. Its beautiful town centre with old mud houses surrounded by evergreen gardens invites for a small walk. From there you proceed to Jebel Shams. Enjoy the view over the Omani Grand Canyon and check-in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Jebel Shams Resort.

DAY 2: In the morning you will discover the old capital of Oman, Nizwa. Walk around the souq and get to know about the cities long history while walking through the fort. After Nizwa, reach Birkat al Mauz, an old village with one of the UNESCO world heritage sites: a water irrigation system supplying the houses with water from the mountains for many decades. After that drive to the magical desert Sharqiyah Sands. Meet a Bedouin family at their home and enjoy the traditional khawa (Omani coffee) with dates before reaching the top of the dunes for sunset and a traditional dinner at the camp. Dinner and overnight at Sama al Wasil Camp.

DAY 3: Leave the desert and proceed to a beautiful wadi, called Wadi Bani Khalid, which invites you to have a swim or just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. From there continue to Sur, in former times one of the most important trading cities in the Arabian Sea, nowadays a more silent but still beautiful city. You visit the dhow factory where traditional wooden ships are made and the open air dhow museum. Evening visit Turtles. Dinner and overnight at Ras al Hadd Beach Hotel

DAY 4: SUR – WADI TIWI/WADI SHAB - DEPARTURE

After leaving Sur you will drive alongside the coastline to Muscat. Take the chance to walk through Wadi Shab which will take approximately two hours including swimming or to explore the evergreen Wadi Tiwi by car.

Stop at Bimah Sinkhole and proceed to Muscat International Airport for your departure flight.
