Making Soba Experience

2h30
About this activity
Soba is one of the most representative food culture in Japan, which is rich in taste and nutrition. Japanese people traditionally eat soba (buckwheat noodles) on New Year's Eve to wish for a long lasting life like its long length of noodles. This program provides you an opportunity to learn how to make soba. Your instructor only speaks Japanese, but an English speaking guide will translate the instruction for you. Making delicious soba needs sophisticated skills, but do not hastate and let's enjoy making soba from beginning to end; add water in two kinds of wheats, and knead, round, roll out and fold a dough of soba noodles and lastly cut the dough into narrow stripes (noodles). After you learn the process of soba making about 2 hours, you will taste fresh soba made by your instructor. Since handmade soba is perishable, it is prohibited to take out your handmade soba. Also, those who are allergic to buckwheat cannot participate in this activity.
