About this activity
Meet in the morning at ESCA, an underground shopping in Nagoya, to begin your excursion to the town of Hida Takayama. You will be travelling in the comfort of a coach bus for around 4 to 5 hours with a break every 2 hours. When you arrive, spend an hour on your own wandering through the charming streets of this traditional-style Japanese town, an urban area known to many Japanese as “Little Kyoto” for its architectural similarities to the famous ancient capital.
On the way, you can enjoy a lunch box provided on the bus.
Continue your trip to Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s known for its traditional Japanese architecture. You’ll have about an hour to admire the area’s collection of historic Japanese-style farmhouses built using the “Gassho-zukuri” method, a roof technique that looks like two hands placed together in prayer which is called "Gassho" in Japanese. You’ll then transfer back to Osaka to finish your excursion at around 9pm.

- If the tour operator has to cancel the tour because of a typhoon, heavy snow or other circumstances beyond their control, this will be decided by 3pm the day before tour departure; you will be informed by e-mail and suggest a new departure date or receive full refund
- Due to traffic conditions, the bus arrival may be delayed and the order of the itinerary may change.
- Snowy Shirakawa-go can be seen from early December while autumn leaves are expected from mid-October to late November. (The best time to view snow or autumn leaves might change depending on the weather conditions.)
- Wearing comfortable shoes and clothes is strongly recommended
- This tour is operated for both Japanese and foreign customers. A Japanese tour conductor with an English/Chinese-speaking staff will accompany the tour and will provide you with some necessary information during the trip, but he/she is not responsible for providing any detailed introduction of attractions.
