About this activity
A friendly crew welcomes you on board at 7:30 am, and offer you a steaming cup of coffee or tea. The tour departs from the marina shortly afterward and the skipper gives a commentary about the area, its history and Maori legends.
Department of Conservation Scientists estimates that there are approximately 50,000 common dolphins in the bay over summer.
The travel to Tuhua or Motiti Islands depending on the weather conditions, and on the way, you can encounter pods of dolphins. After some time observing and taking photos of the dolphins you will see the crystal clear water with these animals. Utilising appropriately custom-made swim bars and swim mat will offer the best possible experience, catering for all levels of competence. Department of Conservation rules limit all operators to 60 minutes total swim time, due to a smaller customer number you can have maximum swimming time.
After swimming with the dolphins you are going to the Island for lunch. Here you can have the opportunity to guided snorkel, usually with seals in a pristine bay. Whilst you enjoy your snorkeling the skipper will barbecue you sausages for lunch. After about an hour at the Island, you are going head back towards the harbor and keep your eyes open for more encounters with marine life and get back at the marina at approximately 4.00 pm.
