Private Tour: Highlights of Hiroshima in 7 Hours

The driver will pick you up at your hotel in Hiroshima city at 9:00am. Afterwards, you will head towards the Peace Memorial Park. On the way, you can see Hiroshima Castle from the vehicle.

Hiroshima and its residents were the victims of an atomic bomb on August 6th, 1945. That fateful day killed thousands of citizens and destroyed the whole city. More than 70 years since that catastrophic event that changed the course of history, Hiroshima has been rebuilt and is now a thriving modern city like any other you see in Japan. However, the past and city's unique history will never be forgotten and the Peace Memorial Park that you will visit is the place that keeps that memory alive. The center of the park is the A-Bomb dome, the remainder of the former Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, the closest building to the hypocenter of the bomb. The A-Bomb dome was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list as “a symbol of horror and nuclear weapons and humankind's pledge for peace." The Children’s Peace Monument, which is also in the park, is a place to commemorate the thousands of young victims of that nuclear attack. Walking through this park and visiting Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is an extraordinary experience in which visitors could sense the horror of war and the appreciation towards peace.

After spending 80 minutes at Peace Memorial Park, you will head to Miyajima, a popular spot for tourists, considered the Island of Gods and one of three best views of Japan. At Miyajima, you will visit the famous Itsukushima Shrine. The shine and its giant torii gate were built above the sea centuries ago, creating an impressive view of one of the most frequently visited place in Japan. You will have approximately 2.5 hours at Miyajima for exploring and having lunch (not included in the tour fee.)

Thereafter, the driver will drop you off at your Hiroshima hotel around 4:00 pm where the tour concludes.
