Heritage Walk in Bowbazar with Private Transfers

The tour starts at an early morning 7:30 am as our driver would pick you up from the hotel. From there we proceed to Sealdah Railway Station.

Sealdah Railway Station commenced its services in the year 1857. It is a hub of railway lines that operates from the east and south of Kolkata. After an interesting session from the tour guide about the story that lead to the popularity of the railway we take you to the Church of Our Lady of Dolours.

The church, which was established in 1810, is located on the Bipin Behari Ganguly Street. The church has an imposing structure and enclosed inside is a shrine of the Mother of Mercy. The next place we cover on the walk is, Baithak-Khana Bazar. While you pass through this Bazaar you can shop for goods and eatables. From here we proceed to Bowbazaar Street, which is known for its renowned college and universities. The Bowbazaar Street is also famous for housing, gold and silver ornament shops.

From the Bowbazaar we take you to Madan Dutta Lane that has some olden houses reminding you about the prehistoric times. The next, you will come across St. Xavier’s Church from where you will make your way to the Indian Association building, which has an interesting history attached to it. Constructed in 1876, the marble tablets right in the front of the building displays extract from many nationalist leaders inscribed on it. Just across the Indian Association building, a temple named Firingi Kali Bari is located. It is 500 years old and the interesting part is the name of the temple. It is named after Anthony Firingee who was a devotee of Kali and converted himself into Hinduism. Your next spot on the walking tour is Bow Street, where you will witness Buddhist Vihara and old bungalows. From here we take you back to the Robert Road to Bowbazar Street. For snacks proceed to J.N. Barua in the market.Here your tour comes to an end. We will drop you back to the hotel.
