What a truly unique experience! Rui picked us up at our hotel at 5:45 am and after a short drive, we arrived at a working dairy farm. Although the owner of the dairy farm did not speak English, Rui translated everything for us so we were able to ask a lot of questions and learn all about this amazing farm. We met the babies first - some as young as 4 days old. Then it was time to milk the cows! It looks a lot easier than it is and although I wasn't very successful, it was a lot of fun trying to milk the cow. Next we enjoyed some fresh milk and Portuguese sweet bread for breakfast. Finally, we stood on a hill and enjoyed watching as the cows were released from their pen and approached us as they headed to the pasture for their morning meal. We were back at the hotel by 9am so we still had a full day to enjoy after our tour. This tour was definitely a highlight of my entire trip! Highly recommended!
