Penang Batik Factory is one of the pioneers of batik manufacturing on the island. Established in 1973 by Craft Batik Sdn Bhd, it is set in Teluk Bahang, a short walk away from the Penang Botanic Gardens.

One of the most impressive engineering works on the island, Teluk Bahang Dam was built to provide an alternative water supply. The surrounding scenery of hills and lakes complements the engineered work, in fact, the dam can be photographed from different points along the main road that winds through the area. Stretching up to a height of 58.5 m (192 ft) and out to a length of 685 m (2,247 ft), the dam represents an impressive work of local engineering and craftsmanship. It was completed in 1999.
